01/30/2026 00:00:00 Embrace the transition from winter to spring with lighthearted decor, playful shapes, and cheerful touches that bring optimism and warmth into your home.

Now that Christmas is behind us and a new year has begun, I find we're immediately inundated with the promise of spring. Almost overnight, stores begin to swap evergreen branches for pastel florals, and suddenly shelves are filled with Valentine's Day napkins, colourful mugs, and glassware that feels impossibly cheerful for the middle of winter.

While there's still a lot of snow on the ground here in Canada, I can't help but feel excited by it all. Spring always feels like a fresh start. It's lighter, brighter, and a little more playful and I find myself craving that shift more than ever this time of year.

I'm ready to shed the bulky coats, hats, mittens, and boots and replace them with light jackets, sweaters, wellies, and umbrellas. That same desire carries over into our homes. After months of deep tones, heavy textures, and cozy layers, there's something refreshing about introducing colour, pattern, and pieces that simply feel happy.

This transition doesn't have to be drastic. Just as we layer our wardrobes for unpredictable spring weather, our homes can evolve gradually too. A floral table linen here, a colourful ceramic mug there, or a simple glass vase filled with grocery-store blooms can instantly lift a space, even while winter lingers outside.

Lately, I've been drawn to pieces that feel lighthearted and optimistic: soft pastels mixed with saturated pops of colour, playful shapes, and everyday items that don't take themselves too seriously. These are the kinds of details that remind us warmer days are coming, even if they still feel a little far off.

Consider this a gentle nudge to embrace the season ahead. Not by rushing winter away, but by allowing small hints of spring to slowly make their way into your home.

Next week I'll be sharing my tips on how to slowly introduce seasonal elements into your home, without a complete overhaul.

Stay tuned!
